In 2008, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Franco-German Journalism Prize, which has been firmly anchored in the tradition of the France Télévisions group since 1983.
In the year 1963, the French President Charles de Gaulle and German Chancellor explicitly expressed their wish in the Franco-German treaty for a mutual convergence of the two countries’ media to strengthen the Franco-German friendship and promote greater cooperation between the two peoples. This rapprochement of our two countries served to lay the foundation for the European edifice.
In our crisis-shaken world of today, we need to provide for the preservation of peace and our environment. Which is why it is more important today than ever before to build strong bilateral relations across past divides that will only be strengthened by new challenges to create a world full of brotherliness, justice and harmony.
Collecting information about France and Germany and turning it into reliable, independent and topical reporting can serve to realize two objectives: campaigning for a fair world, and cementing the friendship between our two countries.
It is important to France Télévisions to encourage all entrants for this competition to make their personal contribution and strengthen the ties between our two countries with their special talent.
